Hope you are all keeping warm and dry in this wet weather!
May the internal climate of our hearts be always sunny and bright ^__^
Thanks everyone for coming to the super short Children's Church meeting on Sunday!
I would like to welcome our new teachers and musicians: Sally Chow, Grace Yap, Berly, Xohn and Ananth!!
The following is a detailed summary with more information than the meeting, so please take some time to read through the following notes and let me know if there's anything further to add!
1. Spiritual Encounter Sunday 17th July
For morning Teachers and Musicians that will be at Spiritual Encounter, do not worry about Morning classes. I have the following substitute teachers: Claire, Michelle, Annya, Esther, Jane and Clement. We will also have Jarryd to play the piano for worship :)
*Evening classes will be normal!!!!*
2. Substitutes for Roster Process
Teachers: see Sharon or Jane
Musicians: see Sharon
This is the process to find a substitute for your single class/worship session for one week:
- Ask another teacher/musician whether they are willing to help you for that week. If successful, that's great! Help them out next time ;)
- If you don't know any teachers, speak to Sharon or Jane and we will provide you suggestions to approach! It will be up to you to confirm with that person to take over the class/session and then confirm with Sharon/Jane that it has been sorted or let us know if need more help.
- It will be your responsibility to remind that person when they need to substitute you!
The reason why we want you to approach the teachers/musicians yourself is because we have sometimes have multiple people approach us so it is hard for us to keep track of who is substituting when. Also it also helps you to discuss handover of materials etc.!
This is the process to find SWAP a whole month of teaching:
- Ask another teacher/musician whether it's possible to directly swap with them month for month. If successful, please let Sharon or Jane know so that we can make the relevant changes on the roster.
- If you don't know any teachers that are able, please speak with Sharon and Jane, and they will assist in making the month changes!
3. Worship
Just wanted to encourage all the worship leaders and musicians - especially all the new ones!
1 Samuel 16:7 ..."The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
Similarly, when we worship the Lord, it's not about how well we play or how in tune we are because God is looking at our hearts. We give him our best (i.e. remember to practice!) with joy in our hearts! Don't worry if you sung a bit out of tune, or missed chords, or can't play fast enough! We just make joyful noises to the Lord as when we are having fun worshiping God, the children will also have fun and will praise God with joy in their in! God will multiply your talents and will continue to grow you in due season ^___^
Please note for Teachers: Teachers that are free during worship, please assist the Worship leader by ensuring no children are distracting the leader. Help the children (especially some of the very distracted children) by holding their hands or keeping them near you! Thank you!
4. Coffee and tea
Please keep an eye out during lunch or dinner, or straight after lessons, on children making tea/coffee/milo/cordial as they have been seen to make a mess and not even drink their creations... =\
So to reduce waste and having to send hypo active kids home with their parents (they probably won't be happy with that), please help stop them! Let them drink WATER (and if they want other drinks, ask them to ask their parents to help them and their permission).
5. Brainstorming session
As Christmas is coming up, we will have a brainstorming session in August to decide on our Christmas activities. If you have any ideas, please let me know before then!!
Also, we would like to brainstorm fundraising ideas of how the Children's Church ministry can help raise funds for our new church building (in particularly to help fund new equipment for Children's church but also to help NLCC as a whole!).
We want to help build up the funds we have so let's get our thinking caps on and come up with a way to raise money! With Christ, ALL things are possible!
Sorry it's a long post but there's a lot happening!! =) Exciting times!
May God continue to bless you all in everything that you do! He truly sees your heart and all that you give Him
He sees: Every rice that you pick up! The time you spend thinking of creative ways to teach your class! Every time you pray for the children! Every hug you give a child! Every encouraging word you build up a child with!
He sees it all and He is pleased as He is sending growth our way! Praise God for all you wonderful and passionate teachers. I'm so grateful for you all!
Let's make the rest of 2016 truly a year of REJOICING!
With blessings,
Jane
xx
